How to Take Great Toy Photos
Clear photos help your toy sell faster and help buyers feel confident they’re getting something loved, safe and exactly as described.
You don’t need fancy equipment or a perfect house. These tips are designed for busy parents, using just your phone.
1. Use natural light (when you can)
Natural daylight makes the biggest difference.
- Take photos near a window or outside in shade
- Turn off overhead lights if they create harsh shadows
- Avoid night-time photos if possible
If the photo looks bright and true-to-colour, you’re on the right track.
2. Choose a simple background
A plain background keeps the focus on the toy.
Good options:
- A bed with a neutral cover
- A table or floor
- A plain wall
No need to stage it, just keep the area around the toy clear.
3. Show the whole toy first
Start with a clear photo of the entire toy.
This helps buyers immediately understand:
- Size
- Shape
- What’s included
If it’s a set, try to show all pieces together in one photo.
4. Add close-ups (especially of wear)
Close-up photos build trust.
Please include:
- Any signs of wear (scratches, marks, faded areas)
- Missing or replaced pieces (if applicable)
- Labels, brand names, or safety markings
Honest photos help your listing get approved faster, and lead to happier buyers.
5. Keep it clear and in focus
Before uploading, check:
- Is the toy sharp and easy to see?
- Is the photo well-lit?
- Does it look like the toy in real life?
If it’s blurry or very dark, a quick retake will make a big difference.
What to avoid
To keep Mini Marketa safe and trustworthy, please don’t use:
- Stock or catalogue images
- Screenshots from websites
- Photos taken from other listings
We need to see your toy as it is today.
