Frequently asked questions
How does buying on Mini Marketa work?
Browse, buy, and check out like a normal online shop.
Mini Marketa handles the payment and coordinates with the seller to get your item sent.
How does postage or pick up work?
When you list an item, you can choose between pickup or postage.
Every item includes either a flat postage fee, set by the seller, or a suburb where the buyer can come to collect the item from.
The price you see is the final price: item + postage, so there are no surprises at checkout.
What kind of items can I sell?
Mini Marketa is a curated marketplace for quality, pre-loved children’s items.
You can sell:
- Children’s toys (wooden toys, educational toys, games, puzzles, dolls, vehicles, etc.)
- Books (board books, picture books, early readers)
- Block Toys (such as Lego or Duplo)
- Creative toys
- Puzzles & games (including family and adult puzzles)
- Playroom favourites that are complete, clean and safe to use
Age groups:
- While our main focus is children’s toys, we’re also happy to pass on the joy through games and puzzles for all ages.
Items must be:
- Clean, safe, and in good condition
- Complete (or clearly noted if a small piece is missing)
- Free from recalls or safety issues
We don’t currently accept:
- Broken or heavily worn items
- Soft toys, clothing, or large furniture
- Items that don’t meet our quality standards
If you’re unsure whether something fits, chances are, if you’d feel good gifting it, it belongs here 💙
What if the seller doesn’t send my item?
If an item isn’t sent within the expected timeframe, you’ll receive a full refund.
You don’t need to chase the seller, Mini Marketa handles it.
Will I get a tracking number?
Yes, we'll get the tracking number once the parcel has shipped and share it with you.
How does pick-up work?
Some sellers choose to offer local pickup instead of postage.
If pickup is available:
- It will be clearly stated on the listing
- The buyer pays at checkout as usual through Mini Marketa
- After purchase, Mini Marketa connects the buyer and seller to arrange a pickup time and location
Mini Marketa handles the payment, no cash or direct payment is required at pickup.
Payment is released once:
- The buyer confirms the item has been collected, or
- Pickup has been completed and no issue is raised within a short timeframe
How can I trust Mini Marketa?
Mini Marketa isn’t just a listing site, we sit in the middle of every transaction.
That means:
- Listings are reviewed before they go live
- Payments go through Mini Marketa, not directly to sellers
- If there’s an issue, we step in and resolve it
Our goal is to make second-hand shopping feel safe, transparent, and stress-free.
Are the toys safe and clean?
Sellers must confirm that toys are:
- Clean and safe to use
- Free from known recalls
- Not broken (unless clearly stated in the listing)
We review listings, but we also encourage buyers to read descriptions and photos carefully.
How does selling on Mini Marketa work?
Submit your toy for review, and once approved, it’ll be listed on Mini Marketa.
Alternatively, we offer a concierge service where we completely take the hassle out for you. To do this, send some images, a price and postage/pickup details to hello@minimarketa.com and we'll do the heavy listing for you.
When your item sells, we’ll contact you with next steps for posting and payment.
How do sellers get paid?
Mini Marketa pays sellers directly.
Once the item is sold and confirmed as sent, we’ll get in touch to collect your BSB and account details, and payment will be made to you.
A 10% Mini Marketa fee is deducted from the sale price to cover platform costs, reviews, and support.
Do sellers need to organise postage?
Yes, if sellers choose to ship instead of pick up, they will post the item directly to the buyer.
You’ll set a flat postage fee when listing your toy, and this is included in the final price shown to buyers.
We'll be in touch to ask for your bank details to pay you, and also the tracking number so we can identify when it's arrived to the buyer's destination.
Why is there a 10% fee?
The fee allows Mini Marketa to:
- Review and approve listings
- Handle payments securely
- Support buyers and sellers
- Step in if something goes wrong
What happens if I can’t send the item?
If you’re unable to send the item after it sells, let us know as soon as possible.
The buyer will be refunded, and the listing may be removed to keep the marketplace fair for everyone.
Why Mini Marketa instead of Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree?
Mini Marketa removes the awkward, messy, and unreliable parts of peer-to-peer selling.
No messaging strangers, cash pick ups or ghosting.
We know parents are busy and don’t have time to haggle or chase people, so we remove that layer entirely.
Unlike Facebook Marketplace, Mini Marketa sits in the middle of every transaction.
That means listings are reviewed for quality, payments are handled securely, and we step in if something goes wrong.
This creates:
- Trust: buyers aren’t dealing with anonymous strangers
- Quality: toys are reviewed and clearly described
- Convenience: simple checkout, no back-and-forth
- Sustainability: good toys are reused, not thrown away
Mini Marketa is designed to feel more like an online shop that you can trust.
Is Mini Marketa Australia-only?
Yes, our marketplace is made in Australia and operates Australia-wide only.
How can I get in touch?
